San Francisco-based artists Steve Snyder and Garry Bailey began collaborating on these heart art boxes in 1997 and recently completed the collection in 2025. Over nearly three decades, the hearts have lived alongside them throughout the city — beginning in a one-bedroom Victorian flat on Steiner Street, traveling through multiple locations in the Castro, and finally coming to rest on the west side. Along the way, each piece absorbed bits and pieces of the life around it, reflecting the beautiful diversity of this fair city by the bay — a place where there are ALL KINDS OF LOVE.
